The Hawks clinched a late win over Blackpool in their first play off game, after being behind for most of the game. Our team spirit and refusal to accept defeat saw us gain the lead with just a couple of minutes remaining. The last 15 mins saw us constantly defending our line after several penalty decisions went against us, but the Seasiders were unable to break our defence and had to settle for a single penalty score for all their efforts. This seemed to lift our players and they surged upfield to pressurise the home defence. Two penalties and a drop goal sealed the win. Although Blackpool threw everything at us in a desperate last two minutes, we held firm and deservedly took the spoils.
