Despite taking an early 10 v 0 lead and looking the better team, the Hawks failed to take advantage and missed a couple of golden opportunities to seal the game. The Lions got back into the game with a breakaway try and then took the lead just before half time. The second half was all one way traffic, with Hunslet constantly losing the ball early in the tackle count and giving away too many silly penalties. Swinton took full advantage of all the possession and posted another 30 points before Michael Marks trademark late try. The Hawks have never won at Sedgley Park and will have to wait at least one more year before gaining that first victory.
