Hunslet Hawks RLFC have allowed half back Nigel Scott to join Gateshead Thunder on loan for a month.

Scott 22 joined the Hawks from Warrington Wolves in November but has struggled to claim a first team spot due to the form of current pair Danny Grimshaw & Paul March.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said " Nige showed his class at Keighley last week in the Reserves but we have a 3 week gap in the Reserve grade fixtures now and this opportunity for him to play some first team football has come at the ideal time, it's a no lose situation for Nigel, ourselves and the Thunder and we will assess the situation after the expiry of the initial loan period."

Williams added " Chris Hood knows Nigel's ability from his student days and he will come back to the Hawks an improved player from his time there under Chris & Andy Kelly with some regular first team experience under his belt."

Meanwhile the club have released PNG International Nicko Slain with immediate effect and he will fly home on Monday.
