10_news_jameshoustonaction.jpgHunslet Hawks RLFC are delighted to announce the double capture of James Houston from Featherstone Rovers & Luke Haigh from Wollongong outfit Wests Illawarra.
Both have penned 1 year contracts for the 2010 season.

Houston 26 is a prop forward and leaves Rovers after a 11 year spell while Haigh 22 is a hooker formerly with Dewsbury Rams but has been gaining experience in the Australian competition but is returning to the UK later this month.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said "James had an offer from Featherstone on the table but decided he needed a fresh challenge in his career and for us to be able to convince him to drop a division speaks volumes for our progression as a club, he made 23 appearances for Rovers last season which shows how highly thought of he was there. He will add strength in depth to our forward pack for 2010, he does all the unglamorous stuff that sometimes goes unnoticed but you get plenty of game time from James and his work rate is immense and he never shirks anything."

On Haigh Williams added "Luke joins us from Wollongong outfit Wests Illawarra. He has previously played for Dewsbury Rams where he established himself in the first grade as a teenager, now 22 he returns to the UK having gained valuable experience playing in the Australian competition against some high quality opposition. He's a classy rake who will add competition to the hooking role and will tackle well above his weight.".
