john-oakes.jpgHunslet Hawks RLFC are delighted to announce the capture of John Oakes from York City Knight's.

Oakes 21 is a powerful try scoring centre who will add real thrust to the Hawks back-line for 2010.

Oakes joins fellow recruits from the Knight's Woodcock, Clayton, David March, Grimshaw & Kelly in following Hawks coach Paul March to South Leeds.

Director of Rugby Darren Williams said "John has impressed me each time I have seen him in action this season and has had a really consistent year for York this season scoring 11 tries in 23 appearances he will certainly add strength and pace to our back's for 2010 and provide us with a real threat out wide."

Williams added "We will make a further announcement on Friday with regards our squad for 2010, it's been a hectic period but there's light at the end of the tunnel."

On signing Oakes said "Once Paul showed me around the club's facilities I could not fail to be impressed with the Hawks set up their squad for next season really looks strong with competition for places all across the park and I am looking forward to this new challenge and working under Marchy again."
