One mighty Acquisition for Hawks! 2014

James Feather, of Keighley Cougars fame has been roped to join the mighty Hunslet Hawks; the contract has been signed for a full one year. One impressive thing to be noted is that Feather has completed about ten years of service with the Cougars. He has scored almost 8 (eight) tries among his eighteen appearances. The Cougars have even awarded a testimonial for the services he has been offering to the team. It was quoted by the player that he was really anticipating great games under coach Barry Eaton and is looking forward to the championship games. It is no news that Coach Barry Eaton has already known Feather for long and the relationship between coach and player has been really good and this link up is sure to be a success. Director Darren Williams is all happy about this tie up and believes Feather will work well under the…

All new structure for Hawks? 2014

Simon Brown, the half back specialist from Halifax has been roped in to play for Hunslet Hawks. The intriguing fact about him is that he has not had a great track record, showing abysmal talent here and there. It could possibly be to the shifts which have been happening often. He was earlier with Sheffield Eagles, where his sprint was quite successful, taking him to quality player level. Then he moved to York and has played for Halifax then. Now that he has signed a contract with Hawks, he is expected to do really well. He has been almost a local, staying here and working here and likely to be a part of the community. The director of Hawks, Darren William, is extremely happy of recruiting Simon, he was quoted saying that players were constantly watched and once they knew Simon was available, they did not waste any time in…

New arrival into Hunslet – Brad Brennen (Nov 2014)

The director of rugby, Darren has confirmed that Brad Brennen from Batley bulldog will be joining us for a year. The former warrington wolves player had and impressive start as Bulldog. We Hunslet fans were always feeling a bit low about our middle side. However with this new recruitment for the middle, we are looking for some better games now. We fans are actually impressed with the director and his uncanny eye for detail. Brennen is however very young, just 21, and has got so many games under his belt. Its in the air that he had been approached by so many other clubs as well. With so many other teams showing interest on him and he choosing to play for the Hunslet really make it look special for us. With his size in the middle, it would definitely bring some aggression into the team at the middle level. He…

What Gym Equipment Do Rugby Players Use to Keep in Shape?

Getting into condition to play rugby is very different than getting ready for other intensive sports such as soccer. Conditioning is done both mentally and physically, and there are a number of different types of gym equipment that rugby players will need to utilize in order to get to the top of their game and in the best condition of their life. American football players and global rugby players will need similar conditioning tools and tricks in their arsenal. Rugby is played in 30-second bursts, so training your mind to understand and react to that is just as important as training your body to have quick bursts of energy and then short rest periods. This is a different type of training, as not everyone has this type of interaction with their exercise routine or sports. When rugby is played at the highest level, it is unlikely that you will…

How Drones Offer a Unique View at Sporting Events

Out with the blimp, in with the drone.  Remember when viewers were awed by aerial shots of football games from a big floating blimp? Back then, the bird’s eye view gave the audience a feel for how grand the sporting event was. Nowadays, drones have the ability to provide stunning overall vistas and much more. The Olympic Games at Sochi was one of the first events where drones were used to film competing athletes. Below are some reasons why drones are great for capturing live sporting events. View from Different Angles Drones are very agile and have the ability to get close and personal with athletes on the move. Makes Very Little Sound Drones are relatively quiet, so they tend not to distract the athlete from the competition. Low Cost Drones are far cheaper than a helicopter or blimp. No Fuel Needed Drones operate on batteries, so there is no…

How the players keep fit

We managed to get some insight recently about the players training regime’s and general things they go through to keep in top shape for the games. Not surprisingly they do have to put a lot of effort in to achieve this and it’s not just about putting the time in during training and at the gym but also about diet. What’s the preferred fitness equipment? Unsurprisingly the players like to get a lot of cardio done so many tend to use the treadmill but perhaps the fitness equipment of choice is the rowing machine. This is because they not only get the heart rate up but they also work pretty much the whole body including the leg muscles. With the best rowing machines like those at CalmWatersRowing you can get such a fantastic workout compared with other fitness equipment and they can really take a beating. Obviously the players also…

Achurch joining the Hawks? 2013

With the captain and the leading players all hurt at the time of a crucial game, the director, Darren William, has brought in Mitch Achurch who has signed a dual registration. Achurch, who is 24 and a front/back row forward will be an asset to the game. The giant at 6’ 5“ and who almost weighs 16st 11 lb, has trained with his new team mates and is warming up for the game beautifully. “Mitch who is a former Penrith Panther and having signed a 4 year deal with the Rhinos is a huge prospect. If included in the lead up to a big game it would definitely boost the other players in the club”, Darren William was quoted saying. With senior players retiring from the game and the captain being hurt, and injuries in the team doubling, a new wave of enthusiasm has emerged among the squad with these…
